oh and heres one for Nicki Minaj...

 PINK FRIDAYS
This beautifully crafted album marks the opening to what is sure to be one of the hottest and most avant-garde carers in mainstream chart history.

Nicki Minaj – real name Onika Tanya Maraj burst onto the scene last year with her infectiously catchy song “massive attack”, released as a buzz single in April 2010. Finally in August last year we were given a taster of what was to come in the form of “your love”. This catchy beat talks about saviour swords and gashor girls whilst minaj declares her love for a boy, describing him “as the illest”.  The album as a whole is one of boy bashing, quick-witted humour with some real move your feet beats.
The first track “i'm the best” really gives a tone of what the listener is in store for with a stick in your mind chorus “I'm the best bitch doing it, doing it” this is definitely a song to listen to if you need a pep talk! With a light dusting of features from hip-hops finest Nicki’s album creates quite a stir, especially with the tune “Romans revenge” featuring Eminem a rapper who judging by his own music is clearly not afraid to mix tongue and cheek lyrics with feisty one liners.
Skip ahead to “right thru me” and you are given a softer sweeter side to Minaj who lyrically discuses and argument between her and a boyfriend. Rhianna is another one of hip-hops female clan and features on track 5 “fly” this incredible upbeat track talks about carrying on even when you feel like you’ve been kicked to the ground.
This album is definitely one to change any bad mood into good. Her no hold back lyrics slamming un-named persons really makes you empathize with her, any one who has ever wronged you this album has a song or lyric that you can relate to. Other feature artists included Drake on the song “moment 4 life” who along with Nicki herself is part of young money entertainment. (a company founded by global rap star lil’ Wayne)
Music giants Will.I.AM and Kanye west also appear in this platinum charting album as well as an unlikely pairing in the last track (“last chance”) of minaj and Natasha Bedingfield.
This album has everything; raw gritty lyrics that seem to show you should never mess with Nicki mixed in with a sweet, soft almost vulnerable side to the star that makes her seem relatable. Definitely a put on repeat album.

its been far too long...

what with my internship, job, uni and an attempt at a social life my poor blog has taken as massive back seat.
i promise starting next week that my little dear bloggy you will be my top priority again!

until then... this is an artical i wrote about the rolling stones 500 greatest songs of all time, we have to self publish it on our blogs.. so enjoy!

The Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time... (so far?)

The rolling stones, great band, great magazine so when, on the 9th december 2004 they released there top 500 greatest songs of all time it felt like prays had been answered. It was a juicy offering of music our parents rocked out to, some we knew some we didn’t, but it remains a classic band of anthems that can be popped in a CD player and played whatever the occasion. The songs were hand picked based on votes from 172 musicians, critics and music-industry figures. It’d be difficult to put into words and singularly give each song the praise it deserves (plus it would take hours) but the collection does not disappoint. From sweet playful rifts at the hand of Prince to the thrashing guitar notes of Nirvana this truly is an album that starts convosations at parties.
It opened your eyes to a whole new side of music changing the listener’s music world forever. Songs by bands you love but didn’t know about a b-side, old favourites whilst opening your eyes to a whole new world of ‘rock’n’roll’.

A top ten was complied to let you know which was the most voted for, Bob Dylan took the number one spot with “like a rolling stone” The Rolling stones stole number two with “I cant get no satisfaction” with the list going on with bands such as Nirvana (number 9 “smells like teen spirit”) the beach boys (number 6 “good vibrations”) of course the Beatles (number 8 “hey Jude”) as well as the solo acts from john Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry and Ray Charles.

In May 2010, Rolling Stone compiled an updated list.
The first album was a celebration of the 60 years of music spanning from the 1940’s up until 2004 when the album was released and shouldn’t it stay that way? Can you be updating the 500 greatest songs of all time? Surely the name should be changed to the greatest songs to date? The newer version is to soon and the songs added aren’t classics yet, the first album represent iconic music, songs you all sang along to, songs that reminded you of good times, songs your parents introduced you to and will always remind you of them but the new one? Maybe they should have waited another 60 years?
